Back in 2018 I randomly read about the existence of a subglacial lake in the Antarctica and was so fascinated by it that I had to write a song about it. Despite it being -3 degrees the water is not frozen because the freezing point has shifted under all the pressure accumulated. There is absolutely nothing there, maybe some microbes and tides.
In my mind it was a place to escape, far away from everything.

As a producer I'm really proud of this creation, I played all the instruments and used field recordings for the first time. I collected the sound of crushing ice last winter in Finland, and street noise from my studio window in Berlin. I let the mandolin enter to feel like clear water, let the guitar ground it and the core of the song is a live recording with ukulele and vocals.
